The 175Z4096 is a frequency converter produced by Danfoss for the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. As a VLT 5000 unit, it modulates the voltage and frequency of a three-phase supply to control induction motor speed in industrial automation applications such as pumps, fans, and process conveyors. The converter is delivered as a single module that mounts inside a control cabinet and connects to upstream automation through hardwired terminals.
The unit is housed in a Compact IP20 enclosure that provides protection against accidental finger contact while relying on the control panel for additional enclosure protection. Input power is rated for a three-phase range of 380–500 V, allowing direct connection to standard low-voltage mains. When the motor load requires 110% torque, the drive supplies up to 15 kW. For operation at 160% torque, the continuous output is limited to 11 kW. These power levels support either normal-duty or heavy-duty service without requiring a different frame size. Command processing is handled by a process control card, allowing analog references, digital inputs, and relay outputs to connect directly to plant instrumentation. Because no RFI filter is included and the application option slot is empty, external accessories must be added when electromagnetic compliance or specialized control functions are required.
Operator interaction is provided through a front-mounted interface, and the supplied display shows frequency setpoints and diagnostic codes without requiring a handheld programmer. The internal electronics use non-coated boards, which limits suitable operation in areas exposed to moisture or conductive dust. Network connectivity is absent because of the lack of a fieldbus option, so speed references must reach the converter through the input and output terminals on the control card. Power devices, gate drivers, and heat sinks follow the manufacturer’s standard hardware profile.
