Product Description:
The 175Z0816 is an AC frequency converter produced by Danfoss for the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. Installed between a three-phase power supply and an induction motor, it adjusts output voltage and frequency to provide variable-speed operation. This control method allows industrial pumps, fans, and conveyors to respond to changing process demand while reducing unnecessary energy consumption. The converter can also regulate acceleration and deceleration, helping connected machinery operate smoothly under changing loads.
The drive uses a process control card that supports closed-loop regulation of flow, pressure, or speed through analog or digital reference signals. At 110% overload, the inverter delivers 4.0 kW of mechanical power for variable-torque operation. A heavier load requiring 160% torque is supported at up to 3.0 kW, making the lower power rating suitable for demanding constant-torque applications. The housing has a Bookstyle IP20 enclosure, which provides finger-safe protection and permits high packing density inside a suitable control cabinet. Communication with an upstream PLC is available through Profibus DP V0/V1 at 12 Mbaud. This connection supports cyclic setpoint exchange and acyclic parameter access over the same network cable. The internal electronics accept a standard 24 V external power supply, allowing fieldbus communication and stored fault information to remain available when the main power supply is isolated.
Electromagnetic compatibility is supported by an integrated Class A1 and Class B filter, which reduces conducted electrical noise without requiring separate external filtering components. The converter has a front plate without a display, so operating values and settings must be accessed through remote control or communication tools. Eliminating the local display also removes the need for a cabinet viewport and keeps the front arrangement simple. The power stack uses uncoated circuit boards, which transfer heat effectively but require installation in a clean, dry enclosure. No application option is installed, leaving the associated expansion capacity available for a compatible module. The product type is VLT 5000, and its control functions are intended for integration with the operating structure used by that converter series.
