Product Description:
The 175Z0814 frequency converter is produced by Danfoss for the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. This AC drive converts fixed-frequency mains power into a variable output that regulates induction motor speed and torque in automated machinery. By electronically adjusting motor flux, it eliminates the need for mechanical throttles and supports energy-adaptive operation on conveyors, pumps, and fan arrays throughout a plant. The unit is installed in control cabinets, where its process interface links directly to PLC command layers.
The converter uses a book-style IP20 enclosure, so its narrow profile fits densely on DIN backplates while still providing finger-safe access to the terminals. It operates from a 380–500 V three-phase supply, matching common industrial utility networks. Under continuous loading, the drive can deliver up to 2.2 kW at 110% rated torque. It also sustains short-term peak demands of 1.5 kW at 160% torque for accelerated ramps. Motor regulation is managed by the embedded process control card, which executes closed-loop speed or process algorithms without external control hardware. Communication with supervisory equipment is available through a Profibus DP V0/V1 interface operating at 12 Mbaud, allowing parameter transfers and real-time status communication over the plant fieldbus.
Electromagnetic compatibility is supported by the integrated Class A1 and Class B filter, which limits conducted noise on the motor and mains leads. The internal control electronics support a standard 24 V external supply, allowing the control logic to remain active when the main power is isolated. The unit has no front-panel display, so parameters and diagnostic information are accessed through remote tools or the fieldbus connection. Its circuit boards do not have a conformal coating, making the drive suitable for protected cabinet installations where additional resistance to moisture and airborne contaminants is unnecessary. The converter does not include built-in application option cards, leaving its available modular space open for compatible expansion cards when additional functions are required.
