Internal Product Review
The 175Z0779 is a Danfoss VLT 5000 frequency converter built with a process control card and a compact IP54 enclosure. Support for 380-500 V three-phase supply and Profibus DP V0/V1 at 12 Mbaud gives the converter strong flexibility in industrial drive systems. Power handling of 5.5 kW at 110% torque and 3.7 kW at 160% torque makes this converter a very capable process-drive package.

Product Description:
The 175Z0779 frequency converter is manufactured by Danfoss within the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. The unit converts fixed mains power into variable-frequency, variable-voltage output so automation controllers can regulate the speed and torque of standard three-phase induction motors. It supports process machinery such as centrifugal pumps, conveyors, and HVAC fans by matching motor speed to real-time demand instead of operating continuously at line frequency. This adjustable output can reduce energy consumption and mechanical stress in applications where load requirements vary during operation.
The drive is housed in a compact IP54 enclosure, which provides protection against limited dust ingress and water spray and permits panel mounting in workshops without an additional cabinet. Its power section accepts a 380–500 V three-phase supply, allowing direct connection to common industrial power networks without transformers. A process control card serves as the central control interface and handles closed-loop speed regulation based on analog or digital reference signals. Communication with plant PLCs is available through Profibus DP V0/V1 at 12 Mbaud, providing deterministic fieldbus data exchange at up to 12 Mbit/s. To limit conducted emissions, the converter includes a Class A1 and B filter. The electronics use non-coated circuit boards, and the unit has a standard hardware build.
For applications that require moderate overload capacity, the converter can deliver 5.5 kW at 110% torque for one minute. Applications requiring greater short-term force can use 3.7 kW continuously with 160% torque capacity. The option bay has no built-in option, leaving room for future expansion without changing the converter’s exterior dimensions. Operators access parameters through the supplied display keypad, which presents frequency, current, and alarm codes directly on the front cover. The selected output class affects the contactors and fuses used with the converter. Cabinet layouts must also provide the required cooling clearance around the unit to maintain proper airflow during operation.
