Product Description:
Danfoss manufactures the 175Z0743, an AC drive in the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. Installed in automation panels, the drive modulates induction motor speed according to changing process demands. It converts fixed three-phase mains power into a variable-frequency output so conveyors, pumps, and mixers can maintain controlled flow, speed, or torque. Adjusting motor output to the actual load can also reduce mechanical stress and unnecessary energy consumption during partial-load operation.
The drive accepts a three-phase input of 380–500 V, allowing direct connection to common industrial power networks without step-down transformers. A compact housing with an IP54 rating protects the internal electronics from dust and water spray, enabling cabinet or wall mounting in production areas. System integration is supported by Profibus DP V0/V1 at 12 Mbaud, allowing controllers to exchange setpoints, operating commands, and status data over a standardized fieldbus. Motor regulation is performed by a process control card that handles feedback loops for pressure, level, or speed. This control capability allows the drive to adjust motor operation in response to signals from compatible process sensors. Electromagnetic interference is limited by an internal filter that meets Class A1 and B limits, reducing conducted electrical noise on the supply lines.
For normal mechanical loads, the converter supplies up to 2.2 kW when the application requires 110% torque. It supplies up to 1.5 kW for heavier operating cycles that require 160% torque, allowing the drive to accommodate applications with greater short-term overload demands. The control section uses uncoated circuit boards, making the unit suitable for installations where conformal protection against moisture or chemical contaminants is unnecessary. An integrated front-mounted display provides access to parameter settings, operating values, and local diagnostic information. Operators can use the display to review drive status and adjust supported control settings directly from the unit. Built-in application options are not included, leaving the available expansion slots open for compatible user-selected modules.
