The 175Z0731 frequency converter is produced by Danfoss for the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. As a variable-speed drive, it modulates the supply to three-phase induction motors so production lines, pumps, and fans can match torque and speed to process demand. Its power stage suits mid-range conveyors and process pumps that require closed-loop accuracy without occupying substantial panel space.
The drive is housed in a compact IP54 enclosure that protects the electronics from dust and low-pressure water jets. It accepts a three-phase input of 380–500 V, allowing installation on common industrial power networks without transformers. Internal regulation is carried out by a process control card, enabling closed-loop commands such as PID setpoint control. For supervisory communication, the unit includes Profibus DP V0/V1 at 12 Mbaud, so status words and reference values travel over a single shielded cable. Telegram timing can be synchronized with the drive’s internal 4 ms scan cycle, ensuring consistent updates to speed references. When operating at 110% torque, the converter delivers 1.5 kW of continuous mechanical power. The standard unit has no option board installed, which keeps the internal layout compact and leaves the available expansion space unobstructed.
During events requiring 160% peak torque, the converter provides an output of 1.1 kW, supporting rapid acceleration of moderate-inertia machinery. An integrated Class A1 and Class B filter keeps conducted emissions within typical plant limits and reduces the need for separate filtering components in the cabinet. The circuit boards have non-coated surfaces, while the sealed enclosure shields the internal electronics from surrounding contaminants during normal operation. A supplied front-panel display presents parameters, operating status, and trip history, allowing drive settings and diagnostic information to be reviewed without separate display hardware.
