Product Description:
Danfoss manufactures the 175Z0649 frequency converter as part of its VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. The unit is intended for industrial automation tasks that require variable-speed control of three-phase motors. It allows production equipment to match motor torque and speed to changing process demands while reducing mechanical stress and unnecessary energy consumption. Closed-loop process control also allows the converter to regulate variables such as pressure, flow, and temperature using feedback from compatible transmitters.
The converter connects directly to a 380–500 V three-phase supply, so no external transformer is needed for standard industrial power systems within that voltage range. System communication is available through Profibus DP V0/V1 at 12 Mbaud, providing setpoint transmission, operating data, and diagnostic access over a plant network. Its compact IP20 enclosure is intended for installation inside a ventilated cabinet that protects the converter from moisture and conductive debris. The drive has an extended configuration with a 24 V backup and brake chopper, allowing the control electronics to remain active during supported supply interruptions and providing a path for regenerated braking energy. Rated output at 110% torque reaches 7.5 kW, making the converter suitable for machines that periodically operate above nominal load. An integrated Class A1 and B filter reduces conducted electromagnetic emissions on the electrical connections. A process control card supports feedback regulation, programmed ramps, and coordination with upstream PLC logic.
A second power curve provides 5.5 kW at 160% torque for high-breakaway loads that require short bursts of additional current during acceleration. The converter uses uncoated circuit boards, so it should be installed away from corrosive gases, condensation, and other contaminants that could damage exposed electronic components. A factory-supplied display is fitted to the front interface and provides direct access to operating values and adjustable parameters without separate equipment. No built-in application option is installed, leaving the available control functions centered on the standard process card and network interface. The compact enclosure, integrated braking capability, and direct mains connection support installation in space-conscious industrial control cabinets.
