The 175Z0563 is an AC frequency converter produced by Danfoss for the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. It mounts in a control cabinet and modulates the voltage and frequency delivered to induction motors, enabling closed-loop speed regulation for conveyors, mixers, and pump skids. By generating a variable three-phase output from a fixed mains supply, the unit serves as the regulating link between the plant controller and the mechanical load, helping match motor torque to real-time process demands while conserving energy.
The drive accepts a rated 380–500 V three-phase supply, allowing direct connection to common low-voltage switchgear. For applications that require 110% of nominal torque, it supports up to 5.5 kW, whereas high-overload duties that reach 160% torque are limited to 3.7 kW to remain within thermal limits. Its slim book-style IP20 housing minimizes panel width while providing finger-safe protection when the drive is installed inside an enclosure. Real-time data exchange with supervisory PLCs is handled through the integrated Profibus DP V0/V1 interface at 12 Mbaud, which carries setpoints, status words, and diagnostic data across the plant network. This connection supports cyclic process communication as well as access to operating information required by the supervisory control system.
Motor regulation is executed by a process control card that can run local PID loops, eliminating the need for separate control hardware. The electronics use uncoated circuit boards, and the converter uses a standard backplane within its internal assembly. A front-mounted supplied display panel provides direct access to parameters, alarms, and trend data. Operators can use the panel to review operating conditions and adjust drive settings without relying exclusively on the network connection. Conducted emissions are reduced by the factory-installed Class A1 and Class B filter, supporting compliance with industrial electromagnetic compatibility requirements at the line and motor terminals.
