Product Description:
The 175Z0544 is a frequency converter produced by Danfoss for the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. Installed between a three-phase power supply and an induction motor, it modulates output frequency and voltage so plant controllers can match shaft speed to process demand. By converting constant mains power into variable pulses, the converter reduces energy waste in pumps, fans, and conveyor drives. It also uses the mounting pattern and electrical architecture associated with the VLT 5000 platform, allowing it to fit into compatible control cabinets and drive systems.
Its Bookstyle IP20 enclosure supports high-density cabinet installation while providing finger-safe protection. The input section accepts a 380–500 V three-phase supply, allowing operation on a range of low-voltage power networks. For electromagnetic compatibility, the integrated filter provides Class A1 and Class B filtering, reducing conducted electrical noise on connected supply lines. The built-in interface supports Profibus DP V0/V1 at up to 12 Mbaud, enabling the drive to exchange setpoints, operating commands, and status data with PLCs without an additional option card. When the mechanical load requires a brief overload, the inverter delivers 2.2 kW at 110% torque for short intervals. The converter does not have a display or an installed application option, so its settings are accessed through external control tools.
The drive has an extended design with 24 V backup and a brake chopper, allowing the control electronics to remain powered during brief mains interruptions while providing the DC link with a dynamic braking path. Under heavy cyclic duty, the converter can sustain 1.5 kW at 160% torque, making it suitable for smaller motors that require high breakaway force. Regulation is handled by a process control card that works with connected plant instrumentation to manage process variables and motor operation. The unit uses non-coated circuit boards, which are intended for installation in clean electrical rooms where airborne moisture and contaminants are controlled.
