The 175Z0539 is a frequency converter produced by Danfoss for the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. Designed as a power electronics module for induction or permanent-magnet motors, the converter rectifies mains power and recreates a variable-frequency output so plant controllers can regulate speed, torque, and energy consumption on production machinery. By integrating into standard switchgear, it serves as the adjustable-speed drive section within automated conveyor lines, pumps, and material-handling systems.
The unit operates from a 380–500 V three-phase supply, allowing direct connection to common industrial busbars. In applications that require only 110% overload, it can deliver 1.5 kW, while operations demanding 160% torque for heavier acceleration are limited to 1.1 kW of continuous power. A built-in process control card supervises feedback loops and analog references so that motor speed tracks process variables rather than fixed setpoints. For digital integration, the drive supports PROFIBUS DP V0/V1 at 12 Mbaud, enabling cyclic data exchange and parameter access through a deterministic fieldbus. This communication interface allows the converter to receive operating commands and return status information through the connected control network.
The mechanical format uses a book-style IP20 enclosure, so several converters can be mounted side by side while maintaining basic protection against accidental contact with live parts. Conducted emissions are attenuated by a built-in filter for Class A1 and Class B emissions, which supports operation in industrial and residential electromagnetic compatibility categories without external line filters. Internal circuitry is assembled on non-coated circuit boards, so the converter should be installed in a panel that is free of corrosive vapors and excessive contamination. A detachable display is supplied with the drive and supports local parameter editing from the front of the enclosure. The standard hardware level provides the primary control and power-conversion functions associated with the VLT 5000 design.
