Product Description:
The 175Z0537 frequency converter is produced by Danfoss for the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. It serves as the central power stage between a three-phase mains supply and an induction motor, allowing regulated speed and controlled torque in automated material-handling, pumping, and ventilation systems. The converter adjusts motor voltage and frequency in response to control commands from the connected automation system. Its compact format is intended for installation in an electrical cabinet with suitable protection and ventilation.
The drive operates from a three-phase input of 380–500 V, making it compatible with common industrial power networks. At 110% overload, it supplies 1.5 kW of shaft power to support short increases in production demand. The unit is supplied as Standard with a brake chopper; this circuit directs excess DC-bus energy to a compatible braking resistor during controlled deceleration. Communication with higher-level PLCs is available through a Profibus DP V0/V1 interface rated at 12 Mbaud, enabling rapid setpoint updates and diagnostic feedback. The slim Bookstyle IP20 enclosure allows closely spaced installation within a protected panel while preventing accidental contact with energized internal components. No application option is installed, leaving the option slot available for a compatible card. The front cover does not include a display, so operating commands and parameter changes must be provided through an external control device or the fieldbus interface.
Electromagnetic compliance is supported by a built-in Class A1 and B filter, which attenuates conducted interference from the converter. Motor regulation is processed by a process control card that executes closed-loop speed and torque algorithms for applications requiring stable process control. Under high-overload operation at 160% torque, the converter provides a shaft output of 1.1 kW before its thermal protection limits operation. The printed circuit boards are non-coated boards, so the converter should be installed in a clean, dry switchroom that is protected from condensation and corrosive contaminants. Adequate cabinet airflow is required to remove heat from the power electronics during sustained operation. Proper grounding, shielded motor cables, and suitable cable routing help the integrated filter limit electrical interference in the surrounding control system.
