Product Description:
The 175Z0531 frequency converter is manufactured by Danfoss and belongs to the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. It is used in automation systems that require adjustable-speed AC motors, allowing pump or conveyor speed to match process demand while limiting inrush current and mechanical wear. The device operates as a variable-frequency power stage inside control cabinets and integrates with typical plant power distribution without requiring additional transformers. By regulating the voltage and frequency supplied to the motor, the converter supports controlled acceleration, deceleration, and steady operation across a range of process conditions.
The drive accepts a 380–500 V three-phase supply, so it can be wired directly to common industrial networks within that voltage range. A slim book-style IP20 housing permits high packing density in panels and provides finger-safe protection when the cover is closed. System communication is handled through Profibus DP V0/V1 at 12 Mbaud, enabling parameter access and setpoint exchange with PLCs. When applications require brief overloads, the inverter can deliver 1.1 kW at 110 percent torque, while continuous heavy-duty operation is rated at 0.75 kW with 160 percent torque. The drive does not include an application option or an integrated display, so settings can be accessed through remote software or a compatible detachable keypad. This arrangement allows the front of the enclosure to remain compact while preserving access to operating parameters and status information.
Electromagnetic compatibility is supported by an internal Class A1 and B filter that limits conducted emissions on the supply lines. Motor control algorithms are executed on a process control card, providing proportional and integral regulation without an external PID module. The unit has a standard power stage with a brake chopper, allowing regenerated energy from rapid deceleration to be directed to a suitable braking resistor. Its non-coated circuit boards require installation in a cabinet that remains within the permitted industrial humidity and contamination limits. Adequate cabinet ventilation and clearance around the housing help remove operating heat and maintain stable performance under sustained loads.
