Product Description:
The 175Z0500 is an AC frequency converter produced by Danfoss for the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. It modulates three-phase mains power to provide variable-speed and torque control for induction motors used in pumps, fans, conveyors, and general process equipment. The converter can adjust motor output to match changing load requirements, helping automated systems maintain controlled flow, pressure, or mechanical speed. Its compact design is intended for midrange automation applications where available control-panel space is limited and dependable motor regulation is required.
The enclosure uses a slim Bookstyle IP20 format, allowing units to be mounted side by side inside a protected control panel while preserving airflow through the heat sink channel. Power is supplied by a 200–240 V three-phase supply, making the converter suitable for low-voltage distribution systems without an autotransformer. For loads requiring up to 110% rated torque, the inverter provides a motor output of 1.1 kW. Applications requiring up to 160% starting torque use a continuous motor output of 0.75 kW, which supports demanding acceleration and startup conditions. The integrated Class A1 and B filter reduces conducted electrical emissions on the line and motor sides. Drive regulation is handled by a process control card, which supports analog setpoints and PID feedback for local speed, pressure, or flow control without relying on continuous PLC processing.
The converter supports Profibus DP V0/V1 at 12 Mbaud, enabling cyclic data exchange, operating commands, and diagnostic messages over a shielded communication cable. This interface allows the drive to exchange reference values and operating status with a higher-level control system while reducing the amount of separate control wiring. The circuit assemblies use non-coated circuit boards, so the converter should be installed in an enclosure that protects its internal electronics from moisture and corrosive airborne contaminants. The front cover has no integrated display, requiring operation through a remote control panel, external controls, or network commands. The unit uses the standard hardware platform, and its application-option slot is unoccupied. External braking resistors are not required for the stated torque capability under normal operating conditions.
