The 175Z0294 is a frequency converter manufactured by Danfoss as part of the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. Installed between the plant power bus and an AC motor, it produces a variable-frequency output that allows production lines to adjust motor speed without mechanical throttling. In process plants, the converter supplies controlled torque and acceleration profiles for pumps, fans, conveyors, and other material-handling equipment. Its electronic speed control can adapt motor operation to changing process demands while remaining within the electrical limits of the drive.
The drive is housed in a compact IP54 enclosure, which limits dust ingress and protects internal components against splashing water. It accepts a 380–500 V three-phase supply; within that range, the internal rectifier and inverter can deliver continuous mechanical power of up to 5.5 kW when 110 percent torque is permitted. Output power is limited to 3.7 kW when 160 percent torque is required for short overload events. Conducted emissions are limited by the integrated Class A1 and B filter, supporting operation in commercial and industrial installations when applicable installation requirements are followed. The printed circuit assemblies use uncoated boards, so the converter should be installed where condensation is unlikely to form on energized components. Appropriate enclosure placement and ventilation also help protect the electronics from moisture and excessive heat.
The drive comes in a standard configuration with a brake chopper, allowing a matched braking resistor to dissipate regenerative energy during rapid deceleration. Command signals are processed through a process control card that supports analog setpoints and status contacts. Local operator adjustments are available through the supplied display on the front panel, providing direct access to operating parameters and drive status. Network communication is unavailable because the converter has no fieldbus option, so commands and status signals must use the installed control interfaces. No application software option is installed, leaving the standard process-control functions unchanged. The integrated brake chopper eliminates the need for a separate chopper module, although a compatible external braking resistor is still required when regenerative energy must be dissipated.
