The 175Z0281 frequency converter is manufactured by Danfoss and belongs to the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. This unit adjusts the speed of three-phase induction motors by modulating the output frequency and voltage, allowing automation controllers to match motor torque to process demand. In assembly lines, pumps, and material-handling systems, the converter replaces mechanical throttling with electronic regulation, improving energy usage and maintaining repeatable motion profiles. It is supplied in the standard hardware configuration for general-purpose motor-control applications.
Electrical integration centers on a 380–500 V three-phase supply, allowing the converter to connect directly to typical industrial feeder lines. For constant-torque duties, it can deliver up to 4.0 kW at 110% overload, while short-term, high-dynamic cycles are covered by a reduced rating of 3.0 kW at 160% torque demand. The converter uses a compact IP54 housing that blocks dust ingress and splashed water, allowing installation on a machine frame without a separate cabinet. Internal electromagnetic suppression is provided by a Class A1 and Class B filter, which reduces conducted emissions to meet general-purpose plant requirements. Command sequencing is handled by the integrated process control card, which processes control inputs and manages the converter’s operating commands.
Operator interaction is supported through the supplied display on the front panel, providing direct access to setpoints and alarm history without external tools. The printed circuit assemblies use uncoated circuit boards, so installations should avoid aggressive airborne chemicals that could affect electronic components. Communication expansion is unavailable because the converter has no fieldbus option; all input and output signals therefore rely on the hardwired terminals provided by the control card. The display allows operating values to be reviewed locally, while the terminal connections support direct integration with external automation controls.
