Product Description:
The 175Z0168 frequency converter is produced by Danfoss as part of the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. This AC drive converts a fixed mains supply into variable-voltage, variable-frequency output, enabling precise control of standard induction motors used in pumps, fans, and material-handling equipment. By adjusting motor speed electronically, it helps automation systems match torque to the load, minimize energy consumption, and reduce mechanical wear in continuous or batch production lines located in industrial plants.
Its enclosure follows the Bookstyle IP20 format, so it relies on airflow from the control cabinet for thermal dissipation while maintaining basic protection against accidental contact. The input stage accepts a 200–240 V three-phase supply, making the unit compatible with low-voltage distribution systems commonly used in light-industrial installations. For applications that require a 110% overload capacity, the inverter can deliver up to 5.5 kW of mechanical output at the motor shaft. Command processing is handled by a process control card, which provides analog reference channels suited for pressure or flow control loops. The drive has a standard configuration with a brake chopper, which directs regenerated energy to an appropriately sized braking resistor during rapid deceleration. No fieldbus option is installed, so control commands and status signals are exchanged through the terminal I/O or entered through the local keypad.
For short-term overloads of up to 160%, the drive is rated at 3.7 kW, providing acceleration capacity for demanding startup sequences. A factory-installed display module shows output frequency, current, operating information, and alarm codes, allowing drive status to be checked without an external display. The drive includes no built-in application option, so application-specific settings are entered through its parameter menus rather than managed by an optional plug-in card. The RFI section includes no specified RFI filter, so an external filter may be required in installations with strict electromagnetic interference limits. Cabinet layout should provide sufficient ventilation around the Bookstyle enclosure and enough clearance for power, motor, control, and braking connections.
