Product Description:
The 175Z0143 frequency converter is produced by Danfoss for the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. It is a variable-speed drive that converts fixed mains power into a regulated output, allowing induction motors on pumps, fans, or conveyors to operate at the precise speed required by an automation sequence. By delivering closed-loop torque control, the converter helps minimize mechanical wear, stabilize flow or pressure, and improve electrical efficiency in industrial plants.
This model uses a process control card, so the drive can execute proportional, integral, and derivative routines internally rather than relying only on a PLC. Input power must be within the 380–500 V three-phase supply range, and at 110% overload, the inverter delivers 4.0 kW of shaft power. The compact IP20 enclosure shields live parts but still requires installation inside a cabinet for full touch protection. Conducted emissions are attenuated by the integrated Class A1 and B filter, enabling compliance with general-purpose and residential environments without external radio-frequency interference hardware.
During short-term torque peaks of 160%, the available mechanical output is 3.0 kW, which is useful when sizing motors for accelerated starts or intermittent load spikes. The control electronics use uncoated circuit boards, so the installation environment should protect them from excessive moisture and airborne contaminants. An operator interface is included, and the supplied display shows status words, alarms, and parameter values directly on the drive. Network expansion is optional, and the base unit has no fieldbus option, allowing an expansion card to be selected for the plant’s chosen communication protocol. The converter also has standard hardware and no built-in application option, while its compact enclosure supports installation in existing motor control centers.
