The 175Z0120 is a frequency converter produced by Danfoss for the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. As a variable-speed drive, it modulates the AC waveform supplied to an induction motor so that plant controllers can match shaft speed to process demand. This operation improves energy use and reduces mechanical stress in industrial automation applications such as pumps, fans, and conveyors. The converter regulates motor speed without requiring mechanical throttling devices or other inefficient methods of process control.
This model is delivered in a compact IP20 housing, so it fits inside standard control cabinets while providing basic finger-safe protection. It connects directly to a 380–500 V three-phase supply, covering the common low-voltage mains used in manufacturing facilities. In applications that require 110% continuous torque, the inverter supplies up to 1.1 kW of mechanical power at the motor shaft. High-overload duties that require 160% torque are supported at up to 0.75 kW. Conducted emissions are limited by an integral filter that meets the Class A1 and Class B filter categories, allowing installation on industrial and light-commercial power networks without additional line chokes.
The internal architecture uses a standard design with a brake chopper, enabling the converter to dissipate regenerated energy quickly during rapid deceleration cycles. A dedicated process control card executes the drive logic and manages analog signal scaling. The unit is supplied with a front-mounted display and keypad for local parameter adjustments and status monitoring. It uses non-coated circuit boards, so the converter is intended for clean, temperature-controlled rooms rather than corrosive atmospheres. No application option or fieldbus plug-in is installed. Integration therefore relies on hardwired input and output connections or an external gateway when networked control is required.
