Product Description:
The 175Z0097 frequency converter is produced by Danfoss within the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. As a variable-speed drive, the unit modulates the voltage and frequency supplied to an AC motor so that equipment such as pumps, fans, and conveyors can match process demand. It integrates rectifier, DC-link, and inverter sections in a single chassis, providing a compact solution for energy-efficient motion control in industrial automation. The integrated power stages convert the incoming AC supply into a controlled output that supports adjustable motor speed and torque. This arrangement reduces the number of separate power components required in the control cabinet while retaining the mechanical footprint common to the VLT 5000 product line.
The housing has a compact IP20 enclosure that provides finger-safe protection and is intended for installation inside a suitable cabinet. Power is accepted from a 200–240 V three-phase supply, allowing direct connection to compatible low-voltage industrial mains. For variable-torque applications, the converter delivers 2.2 kW with a 110% overload capacity. Constant-torque applications are supported at 1.5 kW with a 160% short-term overload capacity. The electronics include an extended 24 V backup with a brake chopper, which allows the control circuits to receive power from an external 24 V source during a loss of mains power. The brake chopper also manages regenerative energy produced during rapid motor deceleration. The base unit does not include a built-in application option or a fieldbus card, allowing accessories to be selected separately when required by the control system.
Control and feedback are handled by the onboard process control card, which supplies analog reference channels and digital input and output connections for standalone regulation. Parameter entry is performed through the supplied display, enabling local setup and operating adjustments without external tools. Electromagnetic compatibility is supported by the integrated Class A1 and Class B filter, which limits conducted emissions entering the mains circuit. The internal electronics use uncoated circuit boards while maintaining the required insulation clearances for the converter platform. Cabinet conditions should therefore be controlled to prevent excessive moisture, conductive dust, or corrosive contamination from reaching the internal components. Accessible controls on the front interface allow operating values, status information, and adjustable parameters to be viewed directly at the installed unit.
