The 175Z0062 frequency converter is manufactured by Danfoss within the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. Designed to regulate three-phase induction motors in automated process lines, the unit modulates mains voltage and frequency to match varying load demands while limiting mechanical stress. It is intended for applications that require stable speed control and torque boosting, including pumps, fans, and material-handling equipment.
The compact book-style IP20 housing allows the drive to be mounted edgewise on DIN rails while providing finger-safe terminal access inside a ventilated control panel. The power stage accepts a 380–500 V three-phase input, so it can operate directly from standard industrial networks without an autotransformer. Under 110% torque conditions, the inverter delivers up to 5.5 kW, providing short-duration capacity for starting centrifugal loads. Continuous high-torque operation at 160% is limited to 3.7 kW to prevent excessive thermal loading. Regulation accuracy is supported by the integrated process control card, which provides proportional speed and torque loops suitable for closed-loop flow or pressure control.
The drive has a standard configuration with a brake chopper, allowing energy from overhauling loads to be routed to a braking resistor rather than returned to the mains. Electromagnetic compliance is supported by the built-in Class A1 and Class B filter, which attenuates conducted noise on the line and motor leads. The unit uses uncoated control boards, so it should be installed in a clean, dry enclosure that protects the electronics from moisture and airborne contaminants. The drive has no local display, so parameter editing relies on compatible remote controls or communication tools. It also lacks integrated fieldbus and application options, which means control signals must be provided through hardwired I/O or suitable serial adapters.
