The 175Z0053 frequency converter is produced by Danfoss for the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. It converts fixed three-phase mains power into a variable voltage-frequency output so centrifugal pumps, fans, and conveyor motors can operate at the speed required by the process. The unit can be installed in an automation cabinet to reduce energy consumption and mechanical stress when torque demand changes during production cycles. By matching motor speed to the load, the converter supports precise process control in food processing, textile production, and material-handling applications.
The converter accepts a 380–500 V three-phase supply, allowing it to operate directly on common industrial power networks. It supplies 3.0 kW at 110% overload, while operation at 160% overload limits the output to 2.2 kW. These ratings allow the drive to accommodate different acceleration requirements and thermal loads. Its compact book-style IP20 housing fits into densely arranged switchboards while providing basic protection against accidental contact. An internal Class A1 and B EMC filter reduces conducted electrical interference and supports operation within the applicable industrial emission limits.
The converter uses a process control card to run closed-loop speed or torque programs without requiring an additional control module. A supplied display shows setpoints, alarms, operating status, and parameter values for local monitoring and adjustment. The integrated brake chopper controls regenerative energy during deceleration and routes it to a compatible braking resistor when required. The drive uses uncoated circuit boards, which permit effective heat dissipation but make installation in a clean, dry cabinet important. No application option is installed in the unit. The converter also does not include a fieldbus option for communication with remote input and output devices.
