The 175Z0050 is a variable frequency converter from Danfoss in the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. As a mains-powered AC drive, it regulates motor speed so pumps, fans, conveyors, and other process equipment can follow command setpoints instead of operating at a fixed synchronous speed. The converter adjusts the voltage and frequency supplied to the connected motor, providing controlled acceleration and operation across the required speed range. Its compact footprint and standardized parameter structure support integration into industrial control cabinets without adding unnecessary installation complexity.
This converter is housed in a book-style IP20 enclosure, allowing it to fit beside adjacent equipment while helping prevent accidental finger contact with live parts. Its input section accepts a 380–500 V three-phase supply, making the unit suitable for common industrial low-voltage power networks. In applications that permit a 110% overload, the drive can deliver 3.0 kW of mechanical power to the connected motor. When an application requires 160% torque for brief acceleration, the continuous power rating is 2.2 kW. A factory-installed EMC stage with a Class A1 and B filter attenuates conducted electrical emissions and helps limit radio-frequency interference in the installation.
The drive has a standard configuration with a brake chopper, which directs regenerated energy to an external braking resistor during rapid deceleration. Regulation tasks are managed by the integrated process control card, which supports analog references and digital input and output signals for process control. The converter has no front-mounted display, so operating values and parameters must be accessed through the available control connections or a compatible external interface. Its printed circuit assemblies use uncoated boards, which should be protected from excessive moisture, conductive dust, and corrosive airborne contaminants inside the cabinet. The absence of application modules and fieldbus interfaces keeps the connection arrangement focused on essential motor regulation, braking, and process feedback functions.
