Product Description:
The 175Z0047 is a frequency converter produced by Danfoss within the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. The unit modulates fixed-frequency, three-phase mains power to provide variable motor speed, allowing pumps, fans, and conveyor drives to match process demand in industrial automation. As part of the high-power VLT platform, it serves as the interface between the plant supply network and AC induction motors, offering torque control and energy savings for continuous-duty machinery.
Compatibility with a 380–500 V three-phase supply enables direct connection to distribution panels without an external transformer. In applications that tolerate a 110% overload, the converter provides a continuous mechanical output of 2.2 kW. When brief peaks of up to 160% torque are required, the available power is limited to 1.5 kW. The housing uses a slim book-style IP20 enclosure, so multiple drives can be mounted side by side while maintaining finger-safe protection inside a switchgear enclosure. Conducted emissions are reduced by an integrated Class A1 and Class B filter, allowing the product to operate on shared busbars with sensitive instrumentation without exceeding radio-frequency limits.
Drive logic is implemented through a process control card that provides closed-loop setpoint handling, while additional application functions must be provided externally. A local display supports parameter readout and keypad entry from the front panel. Power generated during rapid deceleration is handled by a standard brake chopper, which routes surplus energy to an external resistor bank. The converter uses uncoated circuit boards, so it should be installed in a dry panel that protects the electronics from moisture and airborne contaminants. The configuration has no fieldbus option, so speed references and other control signals must be provided through the analog or discrete inputs and outputs on the control card.
