The 175Z0046 frequency converter is built by Danfoss for the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. The unit converts fixed three-phase supply power into variable-voltage, variable-frequency output so plant controllers can regulate induction motor speed, torque, and energy consumption on pumps, fans, and conveyor lines. Its compact book-style design allows dense cabinet arrangements, making it a practical AC drive for industrial automation where panel space and straightforward integration are priorities.
The drive operates from a 380–500 V three-phase supply, providing compatibility with common 50 Hz or 60 Hz networks. When the application requires 110% overload capability, it can deliver up to 2.2 kW of mechanical power, while operation with a 160% torque overload is limited to 1.5 kW. Command logic resides on a process control card that provides proportional regulation for process variables instead of simple speed control. To meet electrical noise requirements, the integrated RFI network uses a Class A1 and Class B filter that reduces conducted emissions on the factory power supply. The standard hardware layout is retained, and no option module is fitted, so the converter follows the baseline installation arrangement for this platform.
Status and parameter information is visible through the front-mounted supplied display, eliminating the need for an external keypad during configuration. The book-style IP20 enclosure protects internal circuitry against incidental finger contact while allowing convection cooling through its narrow side walls. The unit uses non-coated circuit boards, so the converter should be installed in a clean, dry cabinet that limits exposure to moisture and airborne contaminants. The configuration includes no fieldbus option, so all run commands and reference signals enter through the standard terminal strip beside the power lugs.
