The 175Z0043 frequency converter is built by Danfoss and belongs to the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. Within an automation cell, it serves as the intermediate power stage between the utility supply and an induction motor, providing the adjustable voltage and frequency profile required for closed-loop speed or torque regulation. By modulating the sinusoidal output rather than using mechanical throttling devices, the converter helps optimize energy consumption and improve process consistency in conveyors, pumps, and similar continuous-duty equipment.
The drive connects directly to industrial mains in the 380–500 V three-phase range, eliminating external transformers for common European and North American supply grids. When applications demand a 10 percent overload, it can deliver 2.2 kW of shaft power; during short intervals with a 60 percent overload, the available output is 1.5 kW. A book-style housing with an IP20 rating allows cabinet mounting while permitting interior airflow from adjacent modules. Conducted emissions are attenuated by the integrated Class A1 and B filter, so additional radio-frequency interference chokes are often unnecessary for meeting EN 55011 limits.
The printed circuit boards are uncoated, making the converter suitable for clean, dry control cabinets where airborne moisture and corrosive contaminants are controlled. The unit uses only a process control card for its control interface, and the lack of a fieldbus option means network integration must be handled through hardwired input and output connections. Local parameter access is limited by the absence of a display, so configuration requires an external programming tool or remote terminal. The converter does not include an application option and is supplied in a generic configuration. Its operating parameters can be adjusted for pumping, ventilation, or material-handling tasks through software settings.
