The 175Z0039 frequency converter is manufactured by Danfoss as part of the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. It provides variable-speed control for three-phase induction motors used in industrial automation systems. By producing an adjustable output frequency, the converter can regulate motor speed according to changing process demands, reduce energy consumption, and limit mechanical stress on connected equipment. Its narrow book-format housing fits beside other control components without increasing cabinet depth, supporting compact panel layouts for pumps, fans, conveyors, and similar machinery.
The converter is supplied in a book-style IP20 enclosure, which protects against accidental contact with live components while permitting ventilation for heat dissipation. It accepts a 380–500 V three-phase supply, allowing direct connection to common industrial power networks within this voltage range. Under 110% overload conditions, it can deliver 1.5 kW of mechanical power for short load increases above the continuous operating level. The drive is extended with a 24 V backup and brake chopper; the backup input keeps the control electronics powered during mains interruptions, while the brake chopper manages regenerated energy during rapid deceleration. Conducted emissions are limited by an integrated Class A1 and B filter, reducing the need for separate line-filtering components in suitable installations.
The converter has no built-in option, making it suitable for applications that require basic speed control without additional expansion functions. Its non-coated circuit boards allow straightforward visual inspection, but the enclosure should be installed where the electronics are protected from excessive moisture and airborne contaminants. Command and feedback signals are handled by a process control card, which supports analog and basic digital references without requiring a fieldbus gateway. For machinery requiring additional starting torque, the drive supplies 1.1 kW at 160% overload for brief acceleration demands. The plain front panel does not include a display, so operating values and settings must be accessed through the available control connections or compatible external equipment. The fieldbus slot is unoccupied, leaving communication dependent on the installed control interface.
