Product Description:
The 175Z0031 frequency converter from Danfoss belongs to the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. It varies the output frequency delivered to three-phase induction motors, allowing precise speed regulation in conveyors, pumps, and other process equipment used in automated facilities. By converting fixed-frequency mains power into a variable-frequency waveform, the unit allows motor torque and speed to follow changing load demands while supporting efficient operation. Its compact format is suitable for control cabinets where available installation space is limited.
The core regulation circuitry uses a process control card, which provides the analog and digital control loops required for closed-loop speed regulation without additional modules. Its book-style IP20 housing fits into narrow panels and provides basic protection against accidental finger contact when installed inside an indoor cabinet. The input stage accepts a 380–500 V three-phase supply, allowing the converter to connect directly to common industrial power systems. Under a 110% overload condition, the drive provides an output rating of 1.1 kW, giving the motor additional capacity for brief torque peaks. Conducted emissions are reduced by an integrated Class A1 and B filter, which limits high-frequency electrical noise transmitted through the supply lines. Appropriate cabinet clearances and ventilation should be maintained to support reliable heat dissipation during operation.
For applications that require higher torque, the converter provides 0.75 kW at 160% torque, allowing the connected motor to sustain demanding operating periods within the applicable duty limits. The unit uses non-coated control boards, so the surrounding cabinet should remain dry and free from corrosive vapor, conductive dust, and condensation. The front cover has no display, which means operating information and parameter access must be handled through compatible external controls or communication equipment. The drive also has no fieldbus option, so network connections require a suitable external interface when communication with a supervisory controller is needed. No application option is built into the converter, leaving application-specific control functions to external equipment. Push-button controls provide local access to the available operating settings without adding a front-mounted visual interface.
