The 175Z0022 frequency converter module is produced by Danfoss for the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. Installed between the plant’s three-phase mains and an induction motor, it creates a variable-frequency, variable-voltage output that allows control systems to match motor speed to real-time process demands. This speed control supports applications such as pumps, fans, and conveyors while improving energy use and reducing mechanical stress on connected equipment.
The converter is housed in a book-style IP20 enclosure that fits narrow control panels while providing basic finger protection. It connects to a 200–240 V three-phase supply, aligning with low-voltage distribution commonly used in light-industrial environments. When the load permits 110 % overload, the drive provides a continuous motor rating of 3.0 kW. Under 160 % peak-torque conditions, the sustained motor rating is limited to 2.2 kW because of the thermal capacity of the power section. Electromagnetic emission control is handled by an integrated Class A1 and B filter, enabling compliance with industrial and residential EMC categories without requiring external line filters.
Command functions are hosted on a process control card that accepts hardwired references for standalone operation. The front panel includes a supplied display for local readouts of speed, current, and fault codes. Internal circuitry uses uncoated boards, so the module must be installed in an environment free from corrosive moisture. Power electronics and input/output terminals are mounted on standard hardware used throughout the wider VLT 5000 series. The converter does not include dedicated application macros or a fieldbus interface for network communication. It is therefore intended for standalone drive arrangements in which discrete control signals provide the required commands and operating references.
