Product Description:

The VLT 2800 Low Voltage Drives line includes the Danfoss 178B8585, a strong drive that is designed to work reliably in industrial settings. This drive can handle both regular and heavy-duty motors since it has a power rating of 7.5 kW (kilo watts) and can work with three phases. It weighs 5.5 kg (kilo grams), which makes it easy to integrate since it has a good mix of power and size. Installing the 178B8585 mechanically is easy, but it has to be cooled properly to work well and last a long time.

To keep the unit cool, air must be able to flow around it. This means that there must be at least 4 inches (100 mm) of open space above and below the drive. It is very important to keep the ambient temperature and the 24-hour average temperature within certain ranges to avoid overheating. If the temperature around the drive is between 45° C and 55° C (113° F and 131° F), users need to use derating according to the instructions in the drive's handbook.

If users don't derate the device, running it outside of the permitted temperature ranges might shorten its life. For both safety and performance, grounding and installing electrical systems are very important. The Danfoss drive contains a lot of leakage current, thus it has to be grounded according to local rules. The grounding wires should be as short as feasible, and the drive should be mounted on a metal backplate with metal-to-metal contact. When one puts more than one drive in a cabinet, the backplate of the cabinet acts as the joint ground reference. For the optimum electrical contact, all of the drives should be firmly attached to it.
