The 178B5035 is a variable frequency drive engineered by Danfoss for the VLT 2800 Low Voltage Drives series. As a compact AC inverter, the unit modulates the speed of three-phase induction motors so that pumps, fans, and conveyors can respond to process demands instead of running at a fixed mains frequency. By adjusting output voltage and frequency in real time, the drive can reduce energy consumption and limit mechanical stress. It can also integrate motor control with plant-wide automation systems through its available control terminals.
The drive has a continuous output rating of 18.5 kW, which corresponds to a motor shaft output of 25 HP. The input section accepts 380–480 V ±10% at 50/60 Hz from a three-phase supply, allowing connection to common industrial power systems without a transformer. An IP20 protection rating permits installation inside a ventilated control cabinet where finger-safe guarding is sufficient. The standard configuration does not include special input or output extensions. The drive is also supplied without an EMC RFI filter, so external suppression components are required when conducted emission limits apply.
