The Danfoss 178B3228 is an AC variable frequency drive in the VLT 2800 Low Voltage Drives series. Designed for panel-mount integration, the unit regulates induction motor speed and torque to match load demand in automated machinery and HVAC skids. By converting fixed-frequency mains power into a variable output, it improves process stability, lowers energy use, and reduces mechanical wear across conveyors, pumps, and small fan assemblies.

The power section is intended for standard low-voltage supply arrangements. It accepts 200–240 V AC from a single-phase feeder and synchronizes with 50/60 Hz line networks, so it can be wired directly to common utility service without an isolation transformer. The internal converter delivers up to 2.2 kW of motor power, matching small-frame induction machines. Communication to supervisory PLCs is available through a Profibus DP (12 Mbaud) interface, allowing parameter changes and fault reporting over the plant bus.
