The VLT 2000 series' high working moderate frequency converter, the Danfoss VLT 2040, is made to be able to precisely regulate motors in business environments.
The device is intended to run on a three-phase mains supply with 3 x 380-460 V +/- 10% voltages. The motor offers a maximum continuous output current of 5.6 A and can run continuously under load. It is also able to sustain up to 9.0 A load maximum of 60 seconds which means that it has the solid overload tolerance and performance. The output power of the unit is 415 V at 4.0 kVA. It is ideal for medium-duty motor applications and drives since it has a typical shaft power of 2.2 kW. The converter's output voltage range is adjustable from 0% to 100% of the mains voltage, and its rated motor input voltage is 380, 400, 415, 440, and 460 V. With its flexible programmable output frequency range of 0-120 Hz to 0-500 Hz, it is suited for both conventional and non-standard motor speed control applications.
Although longer maximum cables are available up to 300 m (unscreened) or 150 m (screened) to be used with bigger spacing between drive and motor needs, a 40 m maximum is the typical. The VLT 2040 should be installed in a safe control cabinet as its components are contained in an IP20-rated unit. It is highly effective with an ambient temperature of 0°C to +40 °C operating at a full load. It weighs around 4.6 kg, which makes it small and easy to accommodate into the already established systems. The VLT 2040 has a power factor over 0.9 and efficiency over 97% at rated load so that energy loss is minimal and the reliability can be expected.
