Product Description:

The Danfoss VLT 1020 is a high-performance frequency converter from the well-known VLT 2000 series. It is designed for demanding industrial motor control tasks. This powerful drive offers excellent motor control with a large power range of 315 to 800 kW for big industrial operations. This drive works within a voltage range of 380 to 480V, so it is compatible with standard industrial three-phase electrical systems around the world. It performs well in heavy industrial settings, including cement plants, mining operations, steel mills and large manufacturing facilities.

The VLT 1020 has advanced back-channel cooling technology with variable speed fans. These fans keep the operating temperatures optimal under tough load conditions. The cooling system continuously checks internal temperatures and adjusts fan speeds automatically to meet thermal needs. This smart fan control lowers overall energy use and extends component life by managing temperatures effectively. The drive also offers an impressive 150% overload capability for 60 seconds. This feature provides extra power during motor startup and temporary high-load situations. This overload capacity is crucial for applications involving heavy conveyors, large pumps, and industrial machines that require significant starting torque or face occasional load spikes during regular operations.

Safety and protection features set the VLT 1020 apart. It includes an integrated brake chopper and a complete mains disconnect function. The brake chopper regulates regenerative energy produced during motor slowdown and dynamic braking, turning excess energy into heat through internal resistive elements. This action prevents dangerous voltage spikes from entering the electrical system, protecting both the drive and connected equipment from damage. The integrated mains disconnect ensures full electrical separation of the drive from the power supply. This allows safe maintenance and emergency shutdowns, meeting strict safety standards for industrial maintenance.
