The 080G0330 programmable controller is produced by Danfoss for the MCX Programmable Controllers series. This compact module acts as the central control unit in refrigeration, heat-pump, and air-handling equipment, executing user code to coordinate compressors, fans, and expansion valves. By combining local processing with field I/O, it allows a machine builder to maintain stable process variables and implement safety interlocks without a supervisory computer or separate remote terminal unit.
The controller provides 16 analog input channels that accept measurement signals up to 13.5 V, enabling direct connection of NTC probes characterized by a beta of 3435 and a resistance of 10 kΩ at 25 °C. Six analog outputs provide modulating commands for valve drivers or inverter setpoints. The unit offers 22 digital inputs that draw only 5 mA from a 24 V source, while 20 transistor digital outputs switch solenoids and relays. A monochrome operator interface is integrated, and its STN blue transmissive panel renders data at 128 × 64 dots for menu navigation and parameter editing. When its control logic is active, the controller draws no more than 15 W from its power supply. Two built-in communication channels, provided through two independent RS-485 ports, support Modbus or peer-to-peer networking with drives and expansion I/O.
The combined current that can be sourced by the digital outputs and auxiliary supply rails is limited to 65 A, so load groups should be fused accordingly. The front panel is sealed to IP40, preventing the entry of fingers and most solid objects while allowing airflow for convection. When inductive devices are driven through external contactors, terminal guidelines restrict each connected relay to 5 A at 250 V AC, protecting the board traces from overheating. The graphical window measures 58 × 29 mm, giving operators enough space to view setpoints, alarms, and trend data without an external human-machine interface.
