Product Description:
The 175G5236 is a motor soft starter produced by Danfoss within the MCD Soft Starters series and the VLT Soft Starter MCD 202 product group. It is intended for three-phase power installations where controlled acceleration and deceleration of induction motors reduce inrush current and mechanical stress on driven machinery. By integrating starting, protection, and bypass functions into a single B-Frame enclosure, the device helps simplify panel design in industrial automation systems that require compact solid-state motor control.
The starter carries an AC-53b utilization rating of 75 A:4-6:594, which indicates its permissible current, start-stop sequence, and cooling time during repetitive duty. A built-in bypass contactor transfers the motor to line after ramp-up, eliminating external bypass hardware and reducing thermal losses in the thyristors. For line connection, it accepts mains supplies from 200–575 VAC and supports up to 37 kW of motor power at nominal voltage. The control section uses two-phase SCR firing, so torque is regulated on two supply lines while the third phase passes through the internal bypass path. This arrangement helps contain switching losses and simplify heat dissipation inside the 145 mm-wide, 193 mm-deep, and 215 mm-high housing. A protection rating of IP20 allows mounting in clean electrical cabinets, and the starter provides one fixed main relay plus one programmable relay for status, alarm, or sequencing signals.
For demanding loads, the heavy-start profile delivers 4 × Ie for 20 s before returning to steady current limits, giving extra torque without excessive voltage dips. Control electronics can be powered from either 110/240 VAC supplies or from a separate 440 VAC source, allowing flexibility in auxiliary power schemes. The starter can operate in ambient temperatures from -10 °C to 60 °C, and it supports 50/60 Hz mains operation when cabinet ventilation is adequate.
