The 175G5223 is a soft starter produced by Danfoss within the MCD Soft Starters series. In motor control centers, it moderates the initial voltage delivered to three-phase machines, limiting mechanical shock and electrical transients during direct-on-line starts. By controlling current rise, the unit helps extend equipment life and supports coordination with downstream protection devices in industrial automation lines.

The starter accepts a mains window of 200–440 VAC, allowing one model to cover multiple regional supplies. An auxiliary control circuit rated at 24 VAC/VDC powers the logic and bypass relays, so the main conductors remain isolated when the unit is idle. For applications running at nameplate load, the normal current capacity reaches 48 A, while a separate heavy-duty rating of 40 A applies where frequent starts and higher thermal cycling are expected.
