The 175G5216 is a solid-state soft starter from Danfoss in the MCD Soft Starters series. As part of the MCD 202 family, it limits inrush current and controls voltage ramp-up so three-phase induction motors accelerate smoothly with less mechanical stress. By managing motor torque during both start and stop sequences, the unit helps protect pumps, fans, and conveyor drives in automated process lines.

It accepts a mains input of 200–440 VAC, allowing one model to serve several plant voltages without external transformers. The power section is rated for motor line currents up to 100 A, which provides thermal headroom when the starter is applied to high-inertia loads that draw prolonged starting current. With a nominal motor capacity of 55 kW, it suits common medium-size compressors, blowers, and material-handling motors used across manufacturing facilities. Because it is designed for three-phase power, the controller synchronizes firing angles across all SCR pairs to maintain balanced phase voltages and reduce torque pulsation during acceleration.

Control electronics use an auxiliary supply of 110/240 VAC, allowing the unit to share standard panel power. All power and signal components fit within the compact B-Frame, which helps when cabinet space is limited.
