In plant automation, it is wired between the supply and an induction motor to apply a controlled voltage ramp, reducing inrush current, torsional shock, and voltage dips during every start. That gradual ramp helps pumps, fans, and conveyors come up to speed without the abrupt mechanical loading associated with direct-on-line starting. The device supports use in pumping stations, fan arrays, and conveyor zones where predictable acceleration and deceleration reduce mechanical wear and stabilize upstream power quality.

Its main electrical ratings set the operating range for supply, control power, and enclosure placement.
