Product Description:

The 132H8448 is a solid-state motor starter produced by Danfoss within the MCD Soft Starters series. Used in industrial automation, the device gradually applies line voltage to large three-phase induction motors, limiting inrush current and mechanical shock at start-up. By providing controlled acceleration and deceleration, it protects pumps, compressors, and conveyors from electrical and mechanical stress while integrating with Danfoss VLT Soft Starter MCD solutions.

In operation, the starter is designed for supply systems at 480 V AC, matching standard low-voltage distribution on factory floors. Its maximum line current of 361 A is the rated line current the power section can handle without exceeding thermal limits. When used on motors up to 300 HP, the unit can pass rated load current after ramp-up while keeping motor torque within acceptable limits. An integral internal bypass contactor closes automatically once full speed is reached, so the silicon control rectifiers are removed from the circuit and conduction losses drop. The housing meets NEMA 3R requirements, so rain and external ice formation will not reach live parts when it is wall-mounted outdoors. The starter is compatible with three-phase power networks and can be used with Danfoss VLT Soft Starter MCD accessories.

For field control, a separate input of 120 VAC energizes the logic circuit and permits remote run commands without exposing the main bus bars. The starter has a heavy-duty rating, so it can withstand high-frequency starts and elevated motor stall currents often seen in crushers or agitators. All power electronics and the bypass contactor are supplied in an enclosed steel cabinet that ships fully wired. The shipping mass is 181 kilograms, so lifting provisions are required when installing the assembly inside switchgear lineups.
