The 132H2264 soft starter is produced by Danfoss within the MCD Soft Starters series. It is a solid-state motor controller that gradually increases stator voltage so large induction motors reach full speed without the inrush current seen in direct-on-line starting. By managing acceleration and deceleration profiles, the unit reduces mechanical shock to drive trains, lowers peak electrical demand, and improves uptime in automated conveyors, pumping stations, and fan systems that require smoother starting behavior in continuous-duty industrial environments.
Its control circuit operates at 120 VAC, allowing common panel supplies to energize the logic and trigger circuitry. The power section is rated for 240 A, so it can deliver sufficient current for medium-to-large motors during controlled acceleration. An internal bypass contactor closes after the voltage ramp, transferring the running load to a low-loss path and minimizing heat inside the starter. For plant areas containing airborne oil or light dust, the assembly has a NEMA 12 enclosure that helps protect internal components from contamination and non-corrosive liquid exposure. Mains terminals accept 480 V AC, matching typical North American distribution lines for high-horsepower drives.
