The 132H2255 is a soft starter produced by Danfoss within the MCD Soft Starters series. As a controlled solid-state starter, it is installed between the mains supply and an induction motor to limit inrush current and mechanical stress during ramp-up and ramp-down. In industrial automation, this function protects motors, reduces wear on couplings, and allows smoother process starts, making the unit a common component in conveyor, pump, and fan installations. Its controlled voltage ramp also helps reduce belt shock, water hammer, and other abrupt startup effects that can stress driven equipment.

The device operates on three-phase power fed from a 480 V AC supply and accepts a 120 VAC control circuit, separating high-energy lines from low-voltage control wiring. A continuous 65 A current rating is the maximum motor line current it can modulate under standard thermal conditions. To cut conduction losses after acceleration, an internal bypass contactor closes automatically, keeping the thyristors cooler and improving overall efficiency once the motor reaches speed.
