Product Description:
The VACONX5C50075C is an enclosed variable frequency drive from Danfoss in the Low Voltage VACON X Drives series. The product regulates the speed of three-phase induction motors by generating a pulse-width-modulated output that follows velocity or torque commands. Intended for decentralized installation, its UL Type 4X housing keeps dust and washdown fluids away from the electronics, allowing the drive to mount directly at the process. Local sequence capability reduces the need for external controllers, making the drive suitable for conveyor, pump, and material-handling stations.
Electrical performance is based on a three-phase, 575 VAC input that passes through a diode bridge and DC link before inversion. Motor regulation is selectable between V/Hz or sensorless vector control, allowing either simple volts-per-hertz scaling or flux-oriented torque production from the same hardware. Under heavy acceleration, the drive supplies 4 kW of high-overload power at a corresponding crest current of 6.1 A, while electronic trips prevent component stress. The DC bus disconnects above 1017 VDC and switches off below 497 VDC. The enclosure has an IP66 and UL Type 4X rating, so washdown liquids do not compromise the heat-dissipating aluminum housing. Up to 25 internal steps form a sequencer that supports time-based or I/O-triggered transitions without a supervisory PLC.
The T1A frame measures 221 mm wide, 216 mm deep, and 306 mm high, permitting installation in tight service corridors. Its 6.35 kg mass simplifies handling during overhead installation. In standard duty, the inverter delivers 5.5 kW with a continuous line current of 9 A, providing stable operation below the high-overload region. The dynamic brake chopper activates at 970 VDC, redirecting regenerative energy to an external resistor so the DC bus remains below the protective limit. Secure mounting to the machine frame helps control vibration during operation.
