Product Description:

The VACONX5C40100C is an AC drive manufactured by Danfoss within the Low Voltage VACON X Drives series. It receives fixed-frequency three-phase input and produces a variable-frequency output so a PLC or other controller can modulate induction-motor speed in real time. By regulating torque electronically rather than through mechanical throttles, the unit supports efficient operation of conveyors, mixers, and pump stations used in industrial automation.

Under normal duty, the inverter delivers up to 14 A of output current, corresponding to a continuous shaft rating of 7.5 kW. When a short-term overload is required, the heavy-duty profile supplies 11 A at 5.5 kW, maintaining silicon junction temperatures within safe limits. A DC-bus overvoltage trip activates at 814 Vdc to protect capacitors during regenerative deceleration, while a brake circuit is triggered at 776 Vdc to channel surplus energy into an external resistor. Forced-air cooling draws ambient air across the heat sink to stabilize the IGBT modules and keep the control board within its operating temperature range. The cooling path requires unobstructed airflow around the enclosure during operation.

The drive housing carries an ingress protection rating of IP66, meaning dust cannot enter and high-pressure water jets do not reach live parts. Sound pressure at the enclosure surface is limited to 80 dBA at 1 m, helping facilities meet occupational noise guidelines. A DC-link undervoltage trip threshold of 397 Vdc prevents erratic gate firing when supply voltage sags, and operation is permitted at altitudes up to 1000 m without derating. The drive has an installation weight of 6.35 kg. Its compact dimensions of 306 mm in height, 221 mm in width, and 216 mm in depth simplify wall or machine mounting in crowded installation areas.
