Product Description:
The VACONX5C40050C09 is an AC variable frequency drive produced by Danfoss as part of the Low Voltage VACON X Drives series. Designed for decentralized motor control, the unit modulates the supply to standard induction motors, allowing speed variation, torque regulation, and controlled start-stop sequences in conveyors, pumps, and other industrial equipment. Its fully sealed enclosure permits direct placement on processing lines where cabinet space is limited. This arrangement reduces the need for a separate control cabinet near the driven equipment.
The housing carries a protection rating of IP66, so it resists total dust ingress and high-pressure washdown jets. Thermal energy is removed through natural convection, eliminating moving parts such as fans. The electronics sit in the compact T1 frame, which measures 306 mm in height, 221 mm in width, and 166 mm in depth. The assembly weighs 6.35 kg, allowing wall or machine mounting. Power is accepted from a three-phase mains supply, and under high-overload duty, the inverter can deliver 2.2 kW at a motor current of 4.8 A. Regenerative energy is absorbed by an internal brake chopper that activates at 776 Vdc. An overvoltage trip at 814 Vdc isolates the drive to protect the semiconductors and connected wiring.
In constant-torque or variable-speed service, the low-overload channel raises the allowable output to 4 kW and permits current of up to 7.6 A for one minute. This short-term capacity supports the acceleration of heavy loads without external soft starters. If supply conditions deteriorate, an internal monitor senses the DC-link voltage. When the voltage falls to 397 Vdc, the control system initiates a controlled shutdown to prevent contactor chatter and protect the motor insulation. The sealed enclosure supports installation in washdown areas and outdoor pumping applications without an additional protective cabinet.
