Product Description:
The VACONX5C2S050C drive is produced by Danfoss within the Low Voltage VACON X Drives series. It is a standalone AC drive intended to vary the speed of three-phase induction motors in washdown or outdoor equipment where sealed electronics are required. By modulating the motor supply frequency, the unit enables conveyors, pumps, and small processing machines to match load requirements while maintaining energy efficiency in industrial automation. Because it mounts close to the motor, the controller reduces long shielded-cable runs and simplifies retrofit work.
Electrical integration begins with a single-phase input, and the drive synthesizes a balanced three-phase output for the motor. Short bursts of elevated torque are supported by a high-overload capacity of 150% for 60 seconds, which is aligned with a 3 HP (2.2 kW) motor current of 9.6 A. For normal-duty applications, the unit supports an overload capacity of 120% for 60 seconds, matching a 5 HP (4 kW) motor current of 15.2 A. The enclosure carries an IP66 ingress protection rating, preventing dust and high-pressure water jets from reaching the internal boards. These electrical and enclosure characteristics are packaged in the T1A frame, which supports direct wall mounting in compact machinery bases without an additional protective cabinet.
The drive disconnects at an overvoltage threshold of 406 VDC and an undervoltage threshold of 199 VDC, while the dynamic brake chopper begins to engage at 388 VDC to dissipate excess bus energy. Thermal management relies on natural convection, eliminating fans and reducing maintenance requirements. The aluminum housing weighs 6.35 kg and measures 216 mm deep, 221 mm wide, and 306 mm high, providing a clear footprint for panel layouts. Its sealed, fanless design is suitable for decentralized installations where exposure to dust or pressurized water is expected.
