The 178B8451 is a decentralized AC drive manufactured by Danfoss for the FCD 300 Micro Drives series. Installed directly on a machine frame, the unit converts fixed-frequency three-phase mains power into a variable-frequency output that regulates the speed of an induction motor. This arrangement supports conveyors, mixers, pumps, and other equipment that requires distributed motor control. The drive integrates power electronics, local control keys, and field I/O in one sealed housing, reducing the amount of wiring routed to a central control cabinet.
Designed for demanding washdown areas, the drive has an enclosure rating of IP66, providing dust-tight protection and resistance to high-pressure water jets. Its input stage accepts a three-phase supply of 3 × 380–480 V. The inverter delivers up to 0.37 kW of electrical power to the connected motor, making it suitable for light-duty machinery. Conducted emissions are attenuated by an integral 1A EMC filter, which helps limit electrical interference on shared plant power lines without requiring a separate filter.
