Product Description:
The 178B3430 decentralized frequency converter is produced by Danfoss for the FCD 300 Micro Drives series. The unit provides distributed control of induction motors when the converter is installed directly on the equipment instead of inside a centralized cabinet. By adjusting the output frequency, it supports flexible motor speed regulation on assembly conveyors, fillers, mixers, and other automated equipment. This decentralized arrangement shortens the motor cable path and reduces the amount of drive hardware required inside the main control enclosure.
The converter accepts a three-phase, 380–480 V supply and rectifies and inverts the incoming power to provide a continuous output of up to 0.55 kW. This rating corresponds to a mechanical shaft output of 0.75 HP. The housing has an IP66 ingress protection rating, which prevents dust from entering and protects the enclosed components against powerful water jets during equipment cleaning. Networked control is available through the integrated Profibus DP V0/V1 interface at 3 Mbaud, enabling a connected PLC to exchange commands, parameters, and diagnostic data with the drive without an additional gateway. Radio-frequency emissions are suppressed by an integrated Class 1A RFI filter, helping limit electromagnetic interference near sensitive sensors and instrumentation.
The drive is configured for processing applications and uses a factory-set parameter group suited to constant-torque loads commonly found in mixers and agitators. A standard protective coating shields the internal circuit boards from humidity and mild chemical vapors encountered in industrial processing areas. Electrical connection points are gathered in a wall-mounted terminal box that supports installation directly on an equipment frame. Metric threaded cable glands provide organized entry points for power, motor, communication, and control wiring while helping preserve the enclosure’s protection against dust and water. A service switch provides local electrical isolation when access to the connected equipment is required. The removable display connector accepts a detachable operator panel for setup and local parameter access, and the panel can be removed afterward to restrict unintended adjustments.
