Product Description:
The 178B2376 is a distributed variable-frequency inverter produced by Danfoss within the FCD 300 Micro Drives series. Supplied as a compact motor-mounted unit, it provides speed control for induction motors used in conveyor lines, mixers, and other processing equipment common to continuous-flow manufacturing. By regulating motor frequency and torque close to the load, the drive minimizes wiring runs and frees control cabinets for higher-level automation hardware. Its distributed design also places the power electronics near the motor, reducing the amount of motor cabling required across the installation.
This model delivers up to 0.55 kW of electrical output, making it suitable for low-power process motors that require dynamic acceleration and deceleration. It accepts a three-phase supply of 3 × 380–480 V, so it can be connected directly to standard industrial mains without a step-down transformer. An enclosure rating of IP66 permits direct washdown on plant floors, while the standard coating resists airborne moisture and light chemical exposure. Network integration is handled through Profibus DP V0/V1 at 12 Mbaud, giving the controller cyclic setpoint exchange and access to diagnostic registers. To limit conducted emissions, an integral Class 1A filter is installed ahead of the inverter bridge, reducing the need for external filtering equipment. This arrangement helps conserve space in distributed control installations.
The hardware uses an extended configuration with an external 24 V supply, allowing the auxiliary control rail to maintain fieldbus communication when the main power bus is locked out. Mechanical output at the shaft reaches 0.75 HP, providing an imperial reference for equipment sizing. Service access is provided through a wall-mounted terminal box with metric threads that supports armored or unarmored cable glands. A front plate without a display leaves the housing unbroken, so parameters are set over the network or with a remote keypad. The FCD 300 product type associates the unit with the modular components used by the platform. Its processing application setup supports centrifugal pumps, agitators, and similar operating loads.
