Product Description:
The 178B2139 is a decentralized variable-frequency drive supplied by Danfoss as part of the FCD 300 Micro Drives series. This FCD 300 unit mounts close to the motor and regulates the speed of conveyors, mixers, and similar equipment in processing lines. By converting fixed three-phase mains power into a modulated output, the drive provides the torque control required for automated production without the need for an additional control cabinet. Its decentralized design also reduces the length of motor cables and simplifies power distribution across machinery with multiple driven sections.
The unit has an IP66 enclosure that seals the electronic components against dust and powerful water jets during equipment washdowns. Its power section accepts a 3x 380–480 V supply and delivers a continuous motor output of up to 0.37 kW, making it suitable for small motors used in light-duty industrial equipment. Integrated Profibus DP V0/V1 at 3 Mbaud communication allows the controller to receive setpoints and return operating status over the factory network without an additional gateway. The drive includes an integral Class 1A filter that attenuates conducted radio-frequency noise and supports electromagnetic compatibility. Locating these functions in the sealed housing reduces the amount of separate equipment required near the machine.
The drive provides a shaft output of 0.50 HP under nominal operating conditions, supporting applications that require consistent torque at low speed. The front cover has no display, so parameters are adjusted through the fieldbus or a compatible detachable keypad. The unit uses extended electronics with an external 24 V input, allowing its control functions to remain active when the main power supply is interrupted. Wiring is routed through sealed cable glands because of the lack of a terminal box, allowing power, motor, and input/output leads to enter the chassis directly. A standard protective coating helps shield the internal electronics from moisture and airborne contaminants commonly present in food, beverage, and chemical processing areas. The processing application profile provides control behavior suited to conveyors, mixers, and other machinery that operates under changing production loads.
