Product Description:
The 178B2130 decentralized frequency converter is part of the FCD 300 Micro Drives series from Danfoss. It combines power electronics and a motor interface in a single wall-mounted enclosure, allowing direct speed control of asynchronous motors on the machine frame. In processing lines, the drive modulates voltage and frequency to match the speed of conveyors, pumps, or mixers to production demands, reducing energy consumption and mechanical stress. Locating the controls near the load also reduces the need for long shielded motor cables between the converter and the connected equipment.
Its molded housing carries an IP66 rating, protecting the electronics against dust and powerful water jets in outdoor or washdown installations. The inverter accepts power from a 3 × 380–480 V three-phase network and delivers a continuous electrical output of 0.75 kW, which corresponds to a mechanical shaft capability of 1.0 HP. An extended external 24 V supply powers the control boards and connected sensors when the main supply is disconnected, allowing essential control functions to remain available. Conducted emissions are reduced by a factory-installed integral RFI 1A filter, helping the unit satisfy typical industrial radio-frequency interference limits without an external filter. A standard epoxy coating protects the heat sink against typical plant humidity, while a removable display connector supports local parameter adjustments without requiring the enclosure to be opened.
Cable entry is provided through a wall-mount box with metric threads, allowing suitable armored cable glands to be tightened from outside the enclosure while maintaining ingress protection. The drive has no fieldbus interface, so discrete inputs, outputs, or analog reference signals serve as the primary command paths. This arrangement supports direct connection to basic process controls when network communication is not required. A compatible plug-in keypad can display operating status and provide access to adjustable parameters through the front of the enclosure. The wall-mounted design places the converter close to small agitators, light conveyors, pumps, and mixers commonly used in processing applications, while the sealed housing supports installation in areas exposed to dust or routine equipment cleaning.
