Product Description:

The 178B2130 is a frequency converter designed by Danfoss Automation with an exceptionally small size and design that makes it more suited for operation in harsh environmental conditions. This product is an IP66 device with an enclosure that can easily withstand most types of interference encountered in the industry. Unlike other VLT converters, this product does not require an additional control cabinet and can fit into tight spaces without issue. The typical mains connection voltage of this product is between 380 to about 480 volts; there is a three-phase mains connection interface through which the unit receives the connection voltage. The high level of protection provided by the housing of this product allows customers to perform thorough cleaning operations using liquid cleaning solvents. This also makes the unit suitable for use in food and beverage plants, as it can easily meet the hygiene standards required for these applications.

The 178B2130 frequency converter operates with an inverter control system known as the Voltage Vector Control. It energizes connected induction motors with a variable frequency and voltage suitable for the motor operation. The supplied frequency is then adjusted according to the load connected to the motor. The 178B2130 produces a radio interference during its operation; however, the effect of this interference is minimized by a Radio Frequency Interference filter which is integrated into the product from the factory.

The 178B2130 also provides electronic motor protection by calculating the motor temperature based on the supplied current, frequency and time. Unlike conventional overtemperature protection mechanisms, this product takes into account the reduced cooling encountered during low-frequency operation. High temperatures detected are immediately communicated to the operators. The peak recommended ambient temperature for the operation of this product without derating is about 1000 meters above sea level.
